Södertälje Municipality

The municipality of Södertälje [ sø dəʈɛljə ː ] (Swedish Södertälje kommun ) is a south-west of the capital Stockholm Situated in the Stockholm County Municipality in Sweden. Center of the municipality is the town of Södertälje. Villages in the municipality are (from north to south) Enhörna, Järna, Vårdinge and Hölö / Mörkö.

Population

Approximately 36 % of residents were born outside of Sweden or have parents who were born outside Sweden. Of this amount, approximately one-third of non-Swedish nationality.

The largest population group with a foreign background are about 22,000 Syriacs (also known as Arameans, Assyrians, Chaldeans or ) from Turkey, Syria, Iraq and Lebanon. Most of them belong to the Syriac Orthodox Church. The second largest group with 8,000 people make Finns and Finland Sweden. The third largest group consists of around 1,000 Germans. Other Nationalities represented are Chileans, Yugoslavs ( around 800 people each ) and Norwegians (500), and about 4,000 people from other backgrounds.
