South West Cup

The southwest Cup (also: SWFV Association Cup since the 2008/ 09 season officially Bitburger Federation Cup ) is a football cup competition for amateur teams of the Southwest German Football Association ( SWFV ).

Participants in the Association Cup are belonging to SWFV teams in the West Regional, the Oberliga West, the Association of South-West League, the national league, as well as the semi-finalists of the county cups.

The Federation Cup winner qualifies as a participant of the Association of the DFB Cup.

With the reorganization of the leagues system in the summer of 2008 (introduction of the third division ) second teams of professional clubs (First and Second Bundesliga) may no longer participate in the DFB Cup. Thus in 2008 did not take the cup winners 1.FC Kaiserslautern II at the DFB-Pokal in part, but final opponents SV Niederauerbach. Since the 2009/10 season second teams may no longer participate in the Association Cup. Achieved a second team a District Cup semi-finals, moves to a previously under -laying team.
