Southern Province, Zambia

The southern province (english Southern Province ) of the Republic of Zambia is one of the nine provinces of the country.

It is bordered on the south by the Zambezi River, which also forms border to Zimbabwe here. The Victoria Falls are located in the southwest of the province. Provincial capital of the southern province is Livingstone. The province has 1,212,124 inhabitants ( census 2000) and comprises 85,283 km ².

The southern province is very different: poor soils in the valley of the Zambezi, in the prime area of ​​Kafueauen.
