Sawel Mountain

The Sperrin Mountains (or short Sperrins; . Speirín Irish Sliabh Speirín is smaller spur ) are a mountain area in Northern Ireland, with elevations up to about 670 m altitude. They extend between the County Londonderry in the west and Lough Neagh in the east. The Sawel Mountain is 678 m, the highest elevation in the Sperrins.

The region is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Ten kilometers north of Omagh in County Tyrone in the Gortin Glen is located, a popular hiking area, the Open Air Museum Ulster History Park. There are marked trails through the forest and a nine- kilometer circular route by car. The approximately 1,534 -acre Gortin Glen Forest Park, opened in 1967. The An Creagan Visitor Centre and the Sperrin Heritage Centre located in Omagh. The stone circles Beaghmore are 13.5 km north west of Cookstown, County Tyrone.
