Spike Jonze
Spike Jonze (born 22 October 1969 in Rockville, Maryland; actually Adam Spiegel ) is an American film and music video director.
Life and work
Jonze started his career as a director of music videos including the Beastie Boys ( eg sabotage ) or Fatboy Slim (eg Weapon of Choice ). After two short films he directed in 1999 for the first time a feature film: Being John Malkovich. The imaginative film whose screenplay wrote previously worked only for TV series -been Charlie Kaufman, was a great success and garnered numerous international awards and three Oscar nominations, including those for screenplay and directing. For his second film adaptation., Jonze reunited with Kaufman. He wrote himself and his ( fictional) brother Donald as main characters in the film, which deals with the agony of a tormented by writer's block screenwriter.
Jonze is also one of the inventors of the MTV series Jackass and producer of the film to the series Jackass: The Movie. He is currently, inter alia, creative director of Internet -TV channel VBS.TV the magazine Vice. He is also co-owner of skateboard company Girl Skateboards.
In 1999 he played in the action movie Three Kings on the side of George Clooney.
He is a distant relative of the U.S. mail-order house - mirror founding family, to whose legacy he was not involved but contrary to popular belief generally. On 26 June 1999 he married his colleague, the director Sofia Coppola. The marriage ended in divorce in 2003.
For his screenplay for the film production, he received the Oscar for Best Original Screenplay at the Academy Awards 2014.
Spike Jonze works under various pseudonyms, including Richard Koufey.
