Steinberg Dörfl (Hungarian: Répcekőhalom - Dérföld, Croatian: Štamperak - Drfelj ) is a market town in Burgenland in the district Oberpullendorf in Austria with 1288 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2013).

Geography

The municipality is located in Central Burgenland in the upper Rabnitztal. Quarters are: Dörfl and Steinberg. Both are typical street villages.

The municipality comprises the cadastral Dörfl and Steinberg.

History

Before Christ's birth, the area was part of the Celtic kingdom of Noricum and belonged to the area of the Celtic hillfort castle on the Schwarzenbacher Castle Hill.

Under Roman rule today's places Steinberg and Dörfl lay in the province of Pannonia.

The villages Steinberg and Dörfl included as the entire present-day Burgenland to 1920/21 Hungary ( German West Hungary).

After the end of World War II German West Hungary was awarded in the Treaties of St. Germain and Trianon in 1919 Austria after tough negotiations. Since 1921 the newly founded State of Burgenland Both places belong (see also history of Burgenland ).

The market town of Steinberg - Dörfl was formed in 1971 from the market town of Stone Mountain on the Rabnitz and the community Dörfl ( done by VO 5 on-lending ).
