In February 2003, Keppler was in Garmisch -Partenkirchen his debut in the World Cup. Initially his starts were sporadic and he drove the international field behind. After the injury-related resignations of Max Rauffer and Florian Eckert from the already sparse men's team of the German Ski Association before the start of season 2005/ 06 he moved, although internationally even less competitive, along with his team mates Johannes Stehle in the rank of top German rider. Finally he took in January 2006 at the Kandahar downhill in Garmisch -Partenkirchen with rank 21 his first World Cup points. In 2006, he also became German champion in the Downhill and Super -G and again in 2007 German champion in the super -G.

With two eighth places on the descent in Lake Louise on November 25, 2006 and the super-G in Val Gardena, on 15 December 2006 he qualified for the 2007 World Championships in Åre. There was his only result to rank 37th in the super -G. In the downhill and giant slalom he did not finish the race. The results of the World Cup season 2006/ 07 could not repeat Keppler first. Placements in the top 20 remained the exception during the next three years. But with the 2009 World Championships in Val d'Isère, he scored 15th place in the downhill and rank 20 in the super combined and ranked 24th in the super -G. At the Olympic Winter Games in 2010, he came 24th in the downhill and super-combined. In the super -G, he failed.

He celebrated the biggest success on December 17, 2010 in Val Gardena: In the Super -G at the traditional Saslong slope he went surprisingly behind Michael Walchshofer to second place. A month later Keppler came in the Lauberhorn downhill in Wengen hard to fall. He suffered a ligament tear in his right knee, as well as an outline of the Syndesmosebandes in the left ankle. Although initially the premature end of the season was feared Keppler took two months later participated in World Cup races. Two top - 10 finishes (sixth in the super -G in Val Gardena and eighth in the Hahnenkamm downhill in Kitzbühel ) achieved Keppler in the season 2011 /12.
