Suan Phueng District

Amphoe Suan Phung ( Thai: อำเภอ สวนผึ้ง ) is a district ( Amphoe ) in the province ( Changwat ) Ratchaburi, Central Thailand. It lies in the west of the province.

Etymology

The name Suan Phung (literally bee - garden ) comes from an incidence of Phung - trees ( Liang Phung, Thai: เลียง ผึ้ง, Ficus albipila ) that grow in this area in many places. In these trees the bees build their nests like.

Geography

Neighbouring districts (from north clockwise): Amphoe Mueang Kanchanaburi and Dan Makham Tia Kanchanaburi Province, Amphoe Chom Bueng Ban Kha and the province of Ratchaburi. In the West, Tanintharyi Division is located in Myanmar.

History

Suan Phung was a rural area in the district ( Amphoe ) Chom Bueng. In the years 1968-1971, the government sent a group of soldiers here, to promote the development.
