Sunnhordland

Sunnhordland is a geographical area in western Norway, comprising the southern part of the Fylke Hordaland. It extends from the end of the Hardangerfjord in the east over the coastal areas to the Atlantic Ocean to the west. Sunnhordland consists of the municipalities Bømlo, Etne, Fitjar, Kvinnherad, Stord, Sveio, Tysnes, and parts of the Vindafjord municipality in Rogaland.

Sunnhordland except Ølen in the community Vindafjord thus comprises seven municipalities and has an area of ​​2896 km ² and a total population of 56 264 ( 1 July 2009). The capital of Southern Hordaland region is Leirvik.

Sunnhordland is one of 15 districts, which together make up the part of the country Vestlandet.
