Szymiszów

Szymiszów ( German Schimischow ) is a village in the municipality in Poland Strzelce ( United Strehlitz ). The place belongs to the powiat Strzelecki in the historical region of Upper Silesia, Opole Voivodeship in today. Szymiszów has two Soltysships: Szymiszów Wies ( 876 inhabitants) and Szymiszów Osiedle (1005 inhabitants).

Szymiszów located four kilometers northwest of the seat of the municipality and the county town of Strzelce and 28 kilometers southeast of the Opole voivodship.

Neighboring towns of Szymiszów are in the north Sucha ( Suchau ) and in the south Rożniątów ( Rosniontau ).

History

In the plebiscite in Upper Silesia on March 20, 1921 171 voters voted to remain in Germany and 277 for Poland. On Good Suchau 22 people voted for Germany and 52 for Poland, in Gutsbezirk Schimischow voted 227 for Germany and 168 for Poland. Schimischow remained with the German Reich. 1933 lived 1621 inhabitants in the town. On September 9, 1936, the place in stone Heuer OS was renamed. In 1939 the place 1589 inhabitants. By 1945, the place was in the district of Great Strehlitz.

In 1945 the previously German place under Polish administration and renamed Szymiszów and joined the Silesian Voivodeship. From 1945 to 1954, Szymiszów seat of the municipality Szymiszów. In 1950, the city came to Opole Voivodeship. In 1999 the place to re-founded powiat Strzelecki.
