Tarvasjoki

Tarvasjoki [ tɑrvɑsjɔki ] is a municipality in south-western Finland with 1960 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012). It is located some 30 kilometers from the cities of Turku and Salo in the landscape Varsinais- Suomi. The community is monolingual Finnish speakers.

The first mention of Tarvasjoki dates from the year 1316. During the Middle Ages Tarvasjoki was the " Ancient Road ", the historical trade route between Turku and Häme. Today, the state highway runs 10 to Hämeenlinna by the municipality, the Ochsenweg is expanded as a tourist route.

At the confluence of the eponymous river Tarvasjoki with the Paimionjoki the Kirchdorf is of Tarvasjoki, formerly known under the name Eura. Here is the wooden cross church from 1779. Another attraction of the village is the going back to the 1530 farm Juva. 1639-80 he was the Governor-General Per Brahe, was born there in 1757 Gustaf Mauritz Armfelt. Today, the farm serves as a museum.
