Tauste

Located in the comarca of Cinco Villas Tauste is a Spanish municipality in the province of Zaragoza the Aragon Autonomous Region. The on the left bank of the river Arba located near the mouth of the Ebro town had 7190 inhabitants on 1 January 2013.

History

Tauste is first detectable in the Muslim period in the 8th century. In 1105, the conquest by Alfonso I ( Aragón ) was performed. In the 14th century, the canal was built by Tauste. After 1954, the population of the Bardenas was (Plan Bardenas ) with the new villages Sancho Abarca and Santa Engracia.

During the Civil War there was northwest Taustes an airfield, next to the national Spanish and Italian units and parts of the German Condor Legion used. Here was until May 1938, a part of the Dornier Do 17 " Bacalao " the reconnaissance squadron 88 ( A/88 ), while the rest was 20 km northwest in Buñuel. The remains of the group returned to the Battle of the Ebro mid November 1938 for a month to regenerate back to Tauste and with the beginning of the last offensive of the Franco troops for the final conquest in Catalonia moved the majority of machines in the neighboring Buñuel. The last ones laid end January 1939 the conquered Sabadell.
