Tettau located in the northern part of the Natural Park Franks forest at the foot of the Rennsteig.

History
Incorporations
In the course of the boundary adjustment between the German Democratic Republic and the Federal Republic were in 1976 (probably in March ) three farms belonging to small light grove, reclassified according to Kleintettau.
On 1 May 1978, the formerly independent communities Kleintettau and Langenau were incorporated.
