Thage G. Peterson

Thage Edvin Gerhard Peterson (* September 24 1933 in Växjö, Kronoberg County ) is a former Swedish politician of the Sveriges socialdemokratiska arbetareparti ( Socialdemokraterna ), who was not only several times minister, but from 1988 to 1991 and president of the Reichstag.

Biography

Peterson in 1971 in a by-election for the first time. Candidate of the Socialdemokraterna member of the Reichstag and was this after eight re- election until 1998

In 1975 he was first commissioned by Prime Minister Olof Palme as a coordinating minister in the government office with a cabinet post and held this office until 1976.

After the Social Democrats won the parliamentary elections on 19 September 1982 he was appointed by Prime Minister Palme as industry minister in the government and held this office until 1988, also held under Ingvar Carlsson, who succeeded him as Prime Minister, after Palme's murder on 28 February 1986. After a cabinet reshuffle, he was then from June to September 1988 the Minister of Justice in the Cabinet Carlsson.

After the parliamentary elections in 1988, he was then October 18, 1988 President of the Reichstag and held that post until 30 September 1991.

After Peterson, who was a member of the defense committee for many years, was from October 1991 to October 1994 Chairman of the Constitutional Committee of the Reichstag.

Following Prime Minister Carlsson appointed him in October 1994 after the victory of Socialdemokraterna in the Reichstag elections in 1994 as Minister of Defence in the government. He continued in this function even under Carlsson's successor Göran Persson, who took office as prime minister took in March 1996 until February 1997. Subsequently, he was under a cabinet minister in the government office. After the parliamentary elections in September 1998, Peterson retired from the Reichstag, and from the government.
