Thap Put District

Thap Put ( Thai: อำเภอ ทับปุด ) is a district ( Amphoe ) of the province ( Changwat ) Phangnga with the same Thap Put district town in southern Thailand.

History

As the Burmese in 1785 Mueang Thalang attacked the people of Thalang escaped Put in the area of ​​today's Thap. They built a shelter here, which is referred to in the southern Thai dialect Thap. The shelter was covered with leaves, which are called Put.

The county Thap Put was established in 1897 as one of the first counties of the province of Phang Nga.

Management

The district Thap Put in six subdistricts ( tambon) divided, subdivided further into the 38 village communities ( Muban ). Thap Put itself has a small-town status ( thesaban tambon). There are also five " Tambon Administrative Organizations" ( TAO - administrative organizations).

Attractions

Wat Rat Upatam ( Thai: วัด รา ษ ฏ ร์ อุปถัมภ์ ), also called Wat Bang Riang ( วัด บาง เห รี ยง ) - Buddhist temple ( wat ) on the road 4118 (if you are coming towards Thap runs from Krabi put and in Thap Put turns right ). It is a newer mountain temple with a bell-shaped chedi, which is said to contain relics of the Buddha. On the grounds there is also a large statue of Kwame Im the goddess of compassion. On a clear day you can see up to Phang Nga Bay.
