The Human Abstract (band)

The Human Abstract was a progressive metal band with neo- classical elements. The band was born in Los Angeles, California. The band's name comes from a poem of the same name by William Blake ( Songs of Experience, 1794).

Band History

Guitarist Dean Herrera and guitarist / keyboardist AJ Minette formed The Human Abstract in 2004, along with drummer Brett Powell, bassist Kenny Arehart, and singer Nick Olaerts. The band recorded some demos and played on local concerts before finally signing with the record label Hopeless Records in 2005. Shortly after the record deal with Hopeless Records singer Nick Olaerts was replaced by Nathan Ells.

Nathan Ells joined the band before they went into the studio to record their debut album Nocturne. It was released on Hopeless Records on August 22, 2006. Their current album Midheaven was released on August 19, 2008.

The band has been praised by critics, especially for their technical skills and their stage performance. In the past they were on tour a lot, including with bands like All That Remains, God Forbid, Misery Signals, The Devil Wears Prada, Every Time I Die, The Bled, August Burns Red, Shai Hulud, Gorgeous, Protest the Hero, It Dies Today, Mushroomhead, Mnemic, Goatwhore, Arsis, and The Chariot. Furthermore, the band was at the 2007 Warped Tour Smart Punk Stage. The Human Abstract appeared in 2008 on the Take Action Tour along with From First to Last, The Bled, and August Burns Red.

During the recording of Midheaven noticed the fans that lead guitarist AJ Minette was seen on any of the studio pictures on the MySpace page of the band, guitarist Andrew Tapley instead. This gave reason to believe that Minette has left the band. There was no official comment until he was quoted as saying " I do not feel like I can keep on crossing the Rubicon over and over ." The rest of the band thought it " a slap in the face of the people would be that were on our shows and support us," if you would now change the band's sound totally.

The end of 2011 the band finally announced their resolution. An official statement from the band read:. . " Folks, we are not looking for a new vocalist We are not touring anytime soon I think it's only fair you guys not know that we're on. ' Break or hiatus if you want ' I do not know why we have not Said anything. I guess it's Because there is always that ' maybe if something happens, etc.. Etc ... ' Or maybe it's hard for us to realize the reality of our situation, the band 's situation, to finally let go I'll be honest when i say the Following:. . Periphery and Never Say Die were our last tours together as a band "
