Themes from William Blake's The Marriage of Heaven and Hell is the fourth studio album by the Norwegian band Ulver. It is a setting of William Blake's prophetic prose poem The Marriage of Heaven and Hell, was released in 1998 as a double album at Jester Records and was distributed by Voices of Wonder.

Creation and publication

After Nattens Madrigal - Aatte anthem Til Ulven i almonds guitarist Torbjørn " Aismal " Pedersen left the band for a new album, he was replaced by Knut Magne Valle of Arcturus. During the recordings to Themes from William Blake's The Marriage of Heaven and Hell also worked with Stine Grytøyr, Ihsahn, Samoth, Fenriz (all vocals) and Falch ( Scratching ). The album was recorded from late 1997 to early 1998 in the Jester and Beep Jam Studios, mixed by Børge Finstad and gates Ylwizaker and mastered by Audhild Johanne Rype at Strype Audio. Kristoffer Rygg was the producer, Ylwizaker Valle and the co-producers.

On the double CD album was released in late 1998 as the first publication of Ryggs founded in the same year, record label, Jester Records. In 2012 it was re-released in a limited edition on LP; here were several minutes of silence on the fourth side cut out before the last piece and the order of two pieces ( Plates 21-22 and A Memorable Fancy Plates 22-24) accidentally reversed.

This is Ulver's first English-language album, because the lyrics consist of the original text from William Blake's The Marriage of Heaven and Hell. The titles of the pieces follow Blake's division of his work into sections or on printing plates.
