Thomas Helveg

Thomas Lund Helveg (* June 24, 1971 in Odense ) is a Danish former football player and current coach. He has also stood in 2013 as an assistant coach at Odense BK under contract.

Family

Helveg comes from a family footballers. His father played in Denmark's first league and in the B national team. His uncle put on a similar career. His two Jahrer older brother also played in the Danish first division.

Beginnings in Odense

The defender Thomas Helveg already played the first years of his career with his hometown club Odense. In " OB " he played himself in the starting eleven and was achievers. In the years then clubs from abroad were aware of him.

Eleven successful years in Italy

In 1993 he moved abroad and signed Udinese Calcio. Shortly before his move Helveg had long hesitated also because his wife had a job at a university. Career finale at the home club

End of January 2007 Helveg returned to his homeland and signed in his parent club Odense BK, the Helveg offered a perspective for the future. At the end of 2010 Helveg ended his career. On 4 December 2010, he ran against Aalborg BK last time on in an official match. His last assignment as Active he had on 16 December 2010 in the Europa League game against VfB Stuttgart. From January 2011 Helveg worked as an assistant coach at Odense BK and was in the spring for a few weeks head coach. From summer 2011 to summer of 2013, he returned to the role of assistant coach Troels Bach.

National

For the Danish national team, he was on 20 April 1994 his debut when he was employed in a friendly against Hungary. He played 108 international games in which he scored two goals. He participated with the national team at Euro 1996, the 1998 World Cup, Euro 2000, the 2002 World Cup and Euro 2004, as well as the failed qualification for the 2006 World Cup and Euro 2008. For "Danish Dynamite" Helveg ran for the last time on October 17, 2007, when he was used in the European Championship qualifier against Latvia. On 28 February 2008 Helveg announced his retirement from international football.
