History

After the Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León ( UANL ) had come by the temporary takeover of the CF Nuevo León 1960-1962 have been to the benefit of a professional football team, 1967 university own team of professionals has been launched. At that time, the starting conditions were certainly not the best because the CF Monterrey and Nuevo León to the CF two clubs from the neighboring city of Monterrey were represented in the first division. In this respect, the interest of the local audience kept within modest limits, when the club made his second league debut in the 1967/68 season.

The sporting successes did for a while in coming. After the club had 1969/70 found still on the verge of falling to the third tier, the successes from now on should be set in almost two years. The team was founded in 1972 runners-up in the second division, and two years later was even the championship and the associated rise in the Primera División, from which the club no longer has since become indispensable.

During the first few years were even less successful run in football Upper House ( 1974/75 bis 1976/77 ) (they were finished with the 13th, 12th and 19th place in the overall annual ranking ), the team's 1976 Copa México won; and 1978, their first championship that followed 1982, the second ( and so far last) title.

The total fourth and to date last title of the Association was the second Cup success in 1996. Yet the joy here on has been extremely muted, because the team was forcibly transferred to the second division due to a corruption scandal at the end of the same season. With the associated disciplinary transfer was the transfer of the patronage of the association of the UANL on the Sinergia Deportiva, one managed by the company CEMEX and FEMSA sports complex.

The antretenden from now on only under the name Tigres team succeeded at once to rise again. Yet another title could not be obtained since then. After all, the Tigres qualified recently twice in a row to participate in the Copa Libertadores, where they were eliminated in each case through the group phase and once in the quarterfinals (2005) and once in the second round (2006).
