Tōhō, Fukuoka

Toho (Japanese东峰 村, -mura ) is a village in the Asakura -gun in Fukuoka Prefecture, Japan.

Geography

Toho is located in the southeast of Präfaktur Fukuoka at the intersection of Hiko - Kubote - Uplands (英 彦~求 菩 堤 山地) in the east to the Kosho - Homan - Bergland (古 处~宝 満 山地) in the west. North of the village lies the Chikuho Basin (筑 豊 盆地, Chikuho - banchi ) of the river Onga -gawa, southwest of the Chikugo - level (筑 后 平野, Chikugo - heiya ) of the Chikugo -gawa, and southeast of the Hita Basin (日 田 盆地, Hita - banchi ).

Within the area itself, there are only the Koishiwara Basin (小石 原 盆地, Koishiwara - banchi ) in the northwest as the only large open space. This is crossed by four rivers which unite at its southwest end to Koshiwara -gawa (小石 原 川). The remaining settlements are situated along the narrow valleys of the Ohi -gawa (大 肥 川) south of the level rises and its springing in the northeast tributary Hōshuyama -gawa (宝珠 山川), which combine both south on the municipality. History

Toho was (小石 原 村, -mura ) and Hōshuyama (宝珠 山村, -mura ) founded on 28 March 2005 after the merger of the villages Koishiwara in Asakura -gun.

Koishiwara is known for its Koishiwara pottery (小石 原 焼, Koishiwara -yaki ) is known, which in turn have their origins in the Takatori pottery.
