Tom Sykes

Tom Sykes ( born August 19, 1985 in Huddersfield, England ) is a British motorcycle racer.

Career

Sykes began his career with the entry into the British Supersport Championship in the 2003 season and remained until the end of the 2006 season in the race series. He drove during this time for Suzuki. In the seasons 2004 and 2005, he came fifth in the standings, but could be improved in his last season and in 2006 was behind Cal Crutchlow in second.

For the 2007 season, he rose to the British Superbike Championship and moved simultaneously to the team Stobart Honda. At the end of the season he finished sixth. For the 2008 season, he moved in 2008 to Rizla Suzuki. With the change he improved in the BSB to fourth place overall and also took part in two race weekends of the Superbike World Championship in 2008.

Superbike World Championship

In 2009, Sykes moved to the Superbike World Championship. In his first season he won for the Yamaha factory team Yamaha World Superbike ninth place in the overall standings. Team-mate Ben Spies was with 14 wins from 28 races world champion.

For the 2010 season Tom Sykes moved to the Kawasaki factory team. 2010 and 2011 he had only moderate success, reaching the total ranks 14 and 13 In the 2012 season he improved greatly and was at the end of the season with 357.5 points, just half a point behind second behind Max Biaggi.

The first title in the Superbike World Championship, he finally struck gold then in the 2013 season. He drove a 447 points and was Eugene Laverty and Sylvain Guintoli before world champion.

The 2014 season is his fifth overall in the service of Kawasaki Racing Team. There, he will try to defend his world title. What Carl Fogarty recently succeeded in the 1999 season.
