Tomáš Kůrka

Tomáš Kůrka ( born December 14, 1981 in Most, Czechoslovakia) is a Czech ice hockey player who is since 2013 in the Krefeld Penguins in the DEL under contract.

Career

Tomáš Kůrka comes from the offspring of HC Litvinov, for whom he made ​​his debut during the 1998/ 99 in the Extraliga. In summer 1999 he decided a change to North America and went over the next two years for the Plymouth Whalers of the Ontario Hockey League to the ice. The Carolina Hurricanes selected him in the second round total of 32 out of the NHL Entry Draft from 2000.

After two seasons in the American Hockey League farm team of the Hurricanes, the Lowell Lock Monsters, Kůrka was during the 2002/ 03 season his debut in the National Hockey League. In the following two years, he came to a total of 17 NHL games, but was otherwise continue to be used at the monster. The lockout season 2004/ 05 spent Kůrka in his parent club before he returned to the AHL with the Providence Bruins reached the Conference Finals.

Further stations of his career were KalPa Kuopio and Tampere Ilves in the Finnish SM- liiga and the Sodertalje SK of the Swedish HockeyAllsvenskan. Between 2007 and 2009 stood at Kůrka HC České Budějovice under contract and there belonged to the service providers, before he was replaced in October 2009 against Tomas Micka from HC Slavia Prague.

In summer 2010 Kůrka moved from Slavia Prague for HC Sparta and scored 12 points scorer until January 2011, before he was released. By the end of the season he eventually played for the league rivals HC Pardubice. For the 2011/12 season he moved within the Extraliga to his former club HC Slavia Prague. In 2013 he moved into the DEL to the Krefeld Penguins.

Internationally

Tomáš Kůrka participated with the U18 youth team of the Czech Republic at the U18 World Championship in 1999, when the national team finished in fifth place and Kůrka get four goals and one assist. For the men's selection he has so far completed six matches in which he scored four points scorer.
