Tomáš Starosta

Tomáš Starosta (born 20 May 1981 in Trenčín, Czechoslovakia) is a Slovak ice hockey player who is under contract with HK Yugra Khanty-Mansiysk in the Kontinental Hockey League since June 2011.

Career

Tomáš Starosta began his career as a hockey player in the junior section of the HC Dukla Trenčín for whose first team he held until 2005 in the Slovak Extraliga was active from 1999 and with which he was Slovakian champions in the 2003/04 season. He also ran in the 1999/2000 season in parallel in four games for the HC Dukla Senica in the first second-rate league. Towards the end of the season 2004/ 05 he moved to Neftekhimik Nizhnekamsk in the Russian Super League, in which he stood in the following five seasons under contract (as of the 2008/09 season in the newly formed Kontinental Hockey League ).

For the 2010/11 season Starosta was committed by Neftechimiks League rivals Salavat Yulaev Ufa. After a season in Ufa, where he won the Gagarin Cup with Salavat Yulaev, he joined the Continental Hockey League.

Internationally

For Slovakia Starosta took at junior level at the U18 World Youth Championship in 1999, as well as the U20 World Junior Championships in 2000 and 2001 in part. In the senior level, he stood in his country's squad at the World Championships in 2007, 2008 and 2010.
