Trackless train

One -way train (sometimes also a tourist train, in Austria officially called slow train ) is a tractor with trailers to carry passengers. It is a motor vehicle having at least one trailer, which is used to slow, often tourist passenger transport on roads.

Characteristics

Unlike the proverbial excursion train called commuter train or the tourist train also called trams and light railways the tourist train described here is not a rail vehicle. However, it is often designed in a railroad -like appearance and is usually electric, but also driven by diesel engines.

Use

Used paths paths mostly in leisure or in the downtown area, often for trips with multiple stops, such as extended events such as fairs and festivals or as a cozy excursion. Other applications are in the shuttle in tourism areas or resorts or for connection of inner cities with large shopping centers or major attractions.

Legal situation

In the Federal Republic of Germany, the operation of directional paths is governed by § 32a traffic regulations. Then may be carried behind tractors, two trailers when the trains for a trailer permissible length (18 meters) is not exceeded. In a statement from the Federal Ministry of Transport, Building and Housing of 8 March 2004 orientations are given to necessary exemptions aimed at a maximum length of 20 meters and a maximum speed of 30 km / hr.

In Austria the conditions laid down by decree of 2 May 2002 (GZ 179711/6-II/B/7/02 ): " slow trains are combinations of vehicles with a larger number of followers that are used for transporting people. " For tractors with a design speed exceeding 10 km / h, a grant from the Governor pursuant to § 106 para 14 KFG required. The maximum length is 18.75 meters. It may not be faster than 25 km / h. There are only ( fixed mount ) seats permitted. The hooks must be secured at least by means of chains. The decree regulates a few more details, such as construction, lights, brakes and staff.
