Turki bin Said, Sultan of Muscat and Oman

Turki ibn Said (Arabic تركي بن ​​سعيد, DMG Turki b Sa ʿ īd; . * 1832, † June 4, 1888 ) was Sultan of Muscat and Oman ( 1870-1888 ).

Turki had after the death of his father Said ibn Sultan (1804-1856) to his brother Thuwaini ibn Said (1856-1866) made ​​the rule in Oman in dispute. In 1870 he succeeded with the help of the sheikhs of Dubai, Ajman and Ras al-Khaimah, and the financial support from the Zanzibar Azzan ibn Qays victory over ( 1868-1870 ) in the Wadi Dhank in Muttrah.

Now he could take control in Muscat and Oman. His reign was characterized by the economic decline of the country as well as the rivalries between the major tribal groups of Hinawi and Ghafiri. In addition, he had to continue to deal with the followers of Azzan ibn Qays. In the following years he was able to hold only with the support of the British in power. Was succeeded by his son Faisal ibn Turki ( 1888-1913 ).
