United Nations Security Council Resolution 1962

Resolution 1962 of the UN Security Council is a resolution that was decided by the United Nations Security Council unanimously on December 20, 2010. It deals with the situation in the government crisis in the Ivory Coast.

It was decided among other things, an increase in the Opération des Nations Unies en Côte d' Ivoire ( UNOCI ) to 500 men to almost 10,000. The displaced from the Liberian UN mission UNMIL UN troops also remain in the Ivory Coast. In addition, the time frame of the operation by six months until 30 June 2011, extended.

Resolution 1962 refers to the resolution 1528 (2004), Resolution 1609 (2005), Resolution 1880 ( 2009) and, finally, resolution 1933 (2010) which deal also with the troop strength and the time frame of UNOCI. The resolution 1609 coordinated the Mission with the French forces, the Licorne in the country.
