United Nations Security Council Resolution 1761

Resolution 1761 of the UN Security Council is a resolution on the situation in Côte d'Ivoire, the Council unanimously adopted on 20 June 2007 at its 5700 session., The United Nations Security Council. With the resolution, the mandate of the expert group to monitor the prohibition of trade of arms and diamonds in the Ivory Coast has been extended until 15 October 2007. The ban is in force since 2004 to stop the civil war between the ruling in the north of the country rebels and government forces in the south curb.

With the resolution, the UN Security Council called on the resolution 1727 (2006).

The Security Council took into account in making its decision the report of the expert group to monitor the embargo ( UN document S/2007/349 ) and considered the situation in the Ivory Coast for a threat to peace and stability in the region. Under Chapter VII of the Charter of the United Nations, the Security Council therefore decided to extend the mandate of the Expert Group to the extent of resolution 1727, and commissioned by the expert group in accordance with Resolution 1572 ( 2004) before the expiry of the mandate of the Security Council the report on the implementation of the measures resolutions 1572 (2004) and 1643 (2005) to be reimbursed.
