United Nations Security Council Resolution 1975

Resolution 1975 of the UN Security Council is a resolution that was decided by the United Nations Security Council on 30 March 2011 unanimously. It deals with the situation in the government crisis in Ivory Coast 2010/2011.

Specifically, the decision was directed against the Ivorian ex-president Laurent Gbagbo, his wife Simone, the Secretary of the Presidency Désiré Tagro, the Chairman of the Ivorian Popular Front, Pascal Affi N'Guessan, as well as against the narrow Gbagbo adviser Alcide Djédjé. They were subject to travel bans and assets should be blocked. It was agreed that these sanctions can only be averted by the immediate resignation of Laurent Gbagbo. In addition, the UN troops were promised the full support of the Security Council in Ivory Coast ( UNOCI ) and called for an end to violence against civilians. Motivation
