The University of Roehampton is a state university in London.
History
The history of the University of Roehampton goes back to the 19th century. 1841 was the first of the four colleges, the Whiteland College, founded. This was followed by the Southlands College ( 1872), Digby Stuart College ( 1874) and the Froebel College ( 1892). In 1975, these four colleges merged to Roehampton Institute of Higher Education ( Rihe ). In 1984 it became part of the University of Surrey, before it declared its independence as Roehampton University in 2004.
