The University of West London ( UWL), formerly Thames Valley University ( TVU ) is a British public university with campuses in Ealing, Brentford, west London and Berkshire.

History

The origins of the university date back to 1860 with the founding of the Lady Byron School. Later, the educational institution to Ealing College of Higher Education and joined in the early 1990s with the Thames Valley College of Higher Education, the London College of Music and Queen Charlotte 's College of Health Care Studies for the Polytechnic of West London together. In 1992 she received official university status as Thames Valley University ( TVU ). Over the years, other educational institutions such as the Northwick Park School of Nursing, Riverside College of Nursing, the North West Thames Regional Health Authority 's AIDS Unit, the Berkshire College of Nursing and Midwifery and the Reading College and School of Art and Design, which were TVU integrated. After approval by the Privy Council 's name was officially changed to University of West London to give the university a more international profile and to draw attention to the location of West London in April 2011. In May 2011, Laurence Gellar was sworn in as the new Chancellor, who was himself a graduate of the University. The end of 2011 we closed the campus in Reading and Slough and has since focused on locations in West London.

Organization

Vice - Chancellor Professor Peter John, Chancellor ( President ) is Laurence Geller. The UWL has a worldwide alumni network of over 45,000 members, organized into the "West London Students' Union " ( WLSU ).

In the ranking of 2013 the British newspaper The Guardian, the UWL is ranked 68 out of 124 UK universities in the Complete University Guide 2011 ranking, the University leads to rank 95 out of 116

Others

The University has its own student residence ( Paragon ), connected to the site in Brentford, which has 839 students place. A shuttle service connects the campus Brentford with locations in Ealing. From the number of students the UWL is the largest university in the United Kingdom, however, the majority of part-time and evening courses is enrolled. The University has tightened to working with partners in the industry and offers many courses at a ( one-year ) internship.
