Ural Automotive Plant
The Uralski Awtomobilny Zavod (Russian Уральский автомобильный завод ( УралАЗ ); Auto Repair in the Urals ), also briefly UralAZ, is one of the largest manufacturers of heavy commercial vehicles in Russia. The factory was founded in 1941, when the CIS works were due to the war shifted from Moscow to the Urals. Today UralAZ part of GAZ Group and trades as Awtomobilny Zavod " URAL ".
History
On November 30, 1941, the State Defense Committee decided the evacuation of production parts (casting, engine and transmission production ) of the "Moscow Automobile Plant named Stalin " (today Oamo ZIL ) to Miass, Chelyabinsk Oblast. The plant "Ural Automobile Plant named Stalin " was founded. The shift began in March 1942.
