Uruguayan general election, 1984

The presidential and parliamentary elections in Uruguay in 1984 found on Sunday, 25 November 1984.

From the concurrent government and parliamentary elections, the Colorado Party emerged as the winner. In the elections, the electoral system was aligned so-called Lema system of relative majority, both the President and Vice President as well as the 99 deputies and 30 senators elected under a proportional representation for a term of five years.

The deputies mandates in the Chamber of Deputies thus divided as follows:

  • Partido Colorado ( 41)
  • Partido Nacional (35 )
  • Partido Demócrata Cristiano (21 )
  • Partido Unión Cívica ( 2)

The senate seats in the Cámara de Senadores thus divided as follows:

  • Partido Colorado ( 13)
  • Partido Nacional (11 )
  • Partido Demócrata Cristiano (6 )

Election result with respect to the parties

  • Eligible voters: 2,197,503
  • Voters: 1,930,931
  • Turnout: 87.87 %
