Uruguayan general election, 1994

The presidential and parliamentary elections in Uruguay in 1994 found on Sunday, 27 November 1989.

From the concurrent government and parliamentary elections, the Partido Colorado went on a tight lead over Partido Nacional and Frente Amplio as the winner. In the elections, the electoral system was aligned so-called Lema system of relative majority, both the President and Vice President as well as the 99 deputies and 30 senators elected under a proportional representation for a term of five years.

The deputies mandates in the Chamber of Deputies were divided as follows:

  • Partido Colorado ( 32)
  • Partido Nacional (31 )
  • Partido Frente Amplio (31 )
  • Partido del Nuevo Espacio ( 5)

The senate seats in the Cámara de Senadores divided as follows:

  • Partido Colorado ( 10)
  • Partido Nacional (10 )
  • Partido Frente Amplio (9 )
  • Partido del Nuevo Espacio ( 1)

Election result with respect to the parties

  • Eligible voters: 2,330,154
  • Voters: 2,129,245
  • Turnout: 91.37 %
