Ust-Belaya

Ust- Belaya (Russian Усть - Белая ) is a village ( selo ) in the Autonomous District of the Chukchi (Russia) with 856 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010 ).

Geography

The village lies on the right bank of the Anadyr opposite the mouth of the Belaya ( the place name means Belaya estuary ), below the there up close superseding the flux mountain range Ust- Belskije gory ( " Ust- Balaja Mountains " ) with Mount Gynyretyk.

Ust- Belaya is part of Rajon Anadyrski and is located 215 km in a straight line west-northwest of the county and Rajonverwaltungszentrums Anadyr. It is the only town in the same rural community ( selskoje posselenije ).

History

The village was located around the turn of the 20th century by the Markowo from further upstream on the Anadyr, founded and coming originally from Nischnekolymsk on the Kolyma Yukagirs Vasily Nikulin. It soon gained undertaken there Fairs regional importance. From 1930 to 1935, Ust- Balaja administrative headquarters of Anadyrski rayon.

Traffic

After Ust- Belaya is no fixed road link. The place can be reached from Anadyr in 1.5 hours by helicopter or in the ice-free period by ship.
