Uthukkottai (Taluk)
The Taluk Uthukkottai (Tamil: ஊத்துக்கோட்டை வட்டம் ) is a taluk ( subdistrict ) of Tiruvallur district in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. Capital is the eponymous city Uthukkottai.
Geography
The Taluk Uthukkottai located in the center of the district of Tiruvallur in the border of the neighboring Federal State of Andhra Pradesh. It borders on the taluks Gummidipoondi in the northeast, Ponneri in Tiruvallur east and the south. To the northwest lies the State Border to Andhra Pradesh.
The Taluk Uthukkottai is congruent with the block Ellapuram. Its area is 251 square kilometers.
Population
According to the 2011 census, the taluk has Uthukkottai 149 991 inhabitants. The Taluk is clearly influenced country: 91.5 percent of the population are classified as rural, only 8.5 percent as urban population. The population density is 598 inhabitants per square kilometer.
