Veselynove

Wesselynowe (Ukrainian Веселинове; Russian Веселиново / Wesselinowo ) is an urban-type settlement in the south of Ukraine in the Mykolaiv Oblast with about 6,700 inhabitants ( 2013). Wesselynowe is the administrative center of the homonymous Rajons.

Geography

Wesselynowe is located in the western part of the oblast 86 km northwest of the Oblastzentrum Mykolaiv the river Tschytschyklija ( Чичиклія ), a 156 km long right tributary of the Southern Bug. The nearest town Vosnessensk is 27 km north of the town.

The settlement council community include, in addition to Wesselynowe, nor the villages

  • Swenyhorodka ( Звенигородка ) with about 180 inhabitants
  • Kremeniwka ( Кременівка ) with about 210 inhabitants.

History

The village was founded in 1790. The village was occupied on 11 August 1941 by troops of the Wehrmacht and freed on 29 March 1944 by troops of the Red Army. Since 1960 Wesselynowe has the status of an urban-type settlement.

Wesselynowe is the administrative seat of the 1939 founded the same name Rajons. The Rajon Wesselynowe has 23,700 inhabitants and an area of 1245 km ². The population density is 19 inhabitants per km ². To the west of Rajon adjacent to the Odessa Oblast.
