Volkswagen Group New Small Family platform

New Small Family is the name of a project of Volkswagen AG, which aims to develop vehicles for Škoda, Seat, Volkswagen and possibly Audi. There are micro cars which are to expand greatly with different drive types and body shapes sales targets, so as to sell Toyota as the largest automaker in the world from the first place. The project was presented at the Frankfurt Motor Show and at the Tokyo Motor Show 2007. Through the New -Small -Family modular uniform vehicle parts to be produced, which are less expensive in bulk. The three-door models have appeared in December 2011 in their home countries: the VW Up! in Germany, the Škoda Citigo in Czech Republic and the Seat Mii in Spain. In the rest of Europe, the three-door models came in April 2012 on the market. The five-door models came in all countries of Europe in May 2012 on the market.

Production sites

All vehicles are produced in the former BAZ Devínska Nová Ves (Slovakia ) Škoda factory. To prepare the work on the project vehicle, the Volkswagen AG invested 308 million euros. To achieve the sales targets, the Group plans to expand from previous works in Kaluga (Russia) and Pune ( India). Gearboxes are manufactured in Škoda Mladá Boleslav parent plant. To extend the work Škoda Auto has invested 1.5 billion Czech crowns ( about 60 million euros ) and thus formed a further 270 jobs.

Models

The vehicles are based on the same soil group and differ only in design. Differences in the extent resulting from the different sized aprons. So far the following basic models are made:
