Vufflens Castle

Castle Vufflens (French Château de Vufflens ) is 473 m above sea level. M. municipality Vufflens -le- Château in the district of Morges in the canton of Vaud in Switzerland. History

Castle Vufflens was 1420-1430 under Henri de Colombier (around 1368 to 1437, German Heinrich von Colombier. ) Built, consultant and confidant of Count Amadeus VIII of Savoy. De Colombier reached 1385 by the marriage with Jaquete de Duin in the possession of a located at this point castle from the 13th century, which he allowed to cancel, to build on their foundations of a new, spacious residence. After Henri de Colombier died, Castle Vufflens fell in 1438 to his son, Richard, who in turn inherited it on to his offspring. The castle remained in the possession of this family until the death of Philibert de Colombier in 1544 went out. Description

The most striking part of the castle Vufflens is the 60 m high square donjon. This is surrounded by four lower towers that are connected by a parapet with Machicolation ( pitch nose ring ). The keep is separated by a courtyard from the east adjoining residential buildings. Also, this is flanked by four round corner towers and provided with Machicolation.

Viniculture

The castle Vufflens also includes a comprehensive 8 ha vineyard, which is leased to the wine trade house " Bolle & Cie SA " from Morges. The wine is vinified in the room adjacent to the castle " Domaine du Plessis ", but it is stored in the vaults of the castle Vufflens. Since 2007, the Vufflens Castle is a member of the " Clos, Domaines & Château ", an association of historical Vaud wineries and castles.
