Amsoldingen Castle

The Amsoldingen Castle is a castle from the 10th century in the municipality in the canton of Bern Amsoldingen and is privately owned.

History

The exact origins of the castle are unclear. It seems that the Burgundian king Rudolf II to have given as provost of the Canons Amsoldingen. 1484 the monastery was abolished and incorporated into Amsoldingen Berner Munster pen. 1496 the castle to the citizens of Bern and purchase Mr. Bartholomew May was sold. After that, the castle changed hands several times, including some Bernese patrician families, such as the von Erlach and Tscharner and is still privately owned.

The most famous lady of the castle was Elisabeth de Meuron.
