Hindelbank Castle

The Hindelbank Castle is a castle from the 18th century in the municipality in the canton of Bern Hindelbank, which today serves as the administrative building of the institutions Hindelbank, a women's correctional facility.

The castle is located halfway between Hindelbank and Bäriswil in the district Wiler, in a valley between Schnarz and Costanosellari. It was built in 1720 for Hieronymus von Erlach by Daniel Stürler to plans by Joseph Abeille. Model was also from 1714 to 1715 also built for Hieronymus von Erlach Castle Thunstetten. Until the year 1866 the castle was Hindelbank seat of the family von Erlach and then went into the possession of the canton.
