Grasburg Castle

The grass Castle is a ruined castle at Schwarzburg, in the canton of Bern in Switzerland.

History

Today, the outer bailey, the main castle and the main courtyard are from the built in the early 12th century castle still remain.

The castle originally secured probably the reign of Zaehringen or burgundy on the Sense and Sarine between Laupen and Gümmenen. Beginning of the 13th century were administered by royal officials, before they came to the Counts of Kyburg as an imperial fief castle and lordship Grasburc. 1264 she went as a fief to the Habsburgs, which began from the Maggenbergs, de Corbières and the de Vuippens, as governors.

1310 the fief Grasburg of Henry VII to Amadeus V of Savoy was pledged. From now on, the castle fell into disrepair and became less important, which is why it was sold in 1423 to the cities of Bern and Freiburg, which they managed together. In 1575 the castle was abandoned and control of today's District Schwarzburg was conducted from now on from the Castle Black castle.

1803 was the ruin grass castle to the State of Bern. It was thus secured between 1984 and 1986, that they can be safely visited and committed.
