Wimmis Castle

The Brodhüsi Castle is a castle in the municipality Brodhüsi, Canton Bern, Switzerland.

It was built around 1100, was originally owned by the lords of Strättligen and then the barons of White Castle. Between 1286 and 1337 it was besieged by a total of nine times in Bern Weissenburger war. Only two years later, in 1339, helped the Baron of White Castle 's former opponents to win the battle of Laupen. 1439/1449 Bern bought the castle together with the area of ​​the former district office Niedersimmental; the building was the seat of a Bernese bailiff and later the government governor. Larger renovations took place in 1613 and 1696.

1950 in the castle hall was a renewed and the 15 visible faces of four capitals were designed by Erwin Friedrich Baumann.
