Toffen Castle

The Toffen Castle is a castle in the municipality Toffen, Canton Bern, Switzerland.

History

It goes back to a medieval castle, which is first mentioned at the beginning of the 14th century, but was certainly older. Order in 1671 she let transform Hans Georg von Werdt in a baroque country house. The interior is characterized by the Renaissance wooden paneling in carved Rooms of 1633, the pressed leather hangings in Pokuliersaal from the late 17th century and the Rococo paintings from the summer room.

After 1798, the right to rule went into Toffen to the canton of Bern, but the castle and the related goods are still privately owned.
