Wangels

Wangels is a municipality in the district of East Holstein in Schleswig -Holstein.

Geography and transport

The municipality is bordered by the Office Lensahn and the district of Plön and lies near the Bung Mountain in the Wagria. From the 8th century, the area Wendish ( Slavic ) was settled, after which the present village name indicate yet.

Wangels consists of the 19 districts Barensdorf, Hansühn, Karlshof, Kükelühn, Meischenstorf, Neutestorf, Testorf (formerly Gutsbezirk Testorf ), Charlottenhof, Ehlerstorf, Farve, Grammdorf, Hohenstein, Wangels (formerly Gutsbezirk Farve ), Döhnsdorf, Friederikenhof, wholesale Wessek, Testorferfelde, Wasbuck and White House ( formerly Gutsbezirk White House ). Hansühn forms the center of the community. Also the Baltic Weißenhäuser beach in the Hohwachter Bay is located in the municipal area.

History

The municipal area originally belonged to three agricultural estates from which in 1933 the municipalities Hansühn ( Gutsbezirk Testorf ), Hohenstein ( Gutsbezirk Farve ) and Döhnsdorf ( Gutsbezirk White House ) were formed. In 1939, these three municipalities were merged to form the present-day municipality Wangels.

Döhnsdorf

In the west of the municipality on the B 202 situated village - south of the village is the Döhnsdorfer castle - the residue of a medieval motte.

Grammdorf

In Gram village, which is inhabited since the Stone Age, there is a passage grave (stone chamber of Grammdorf ). This was in the 12th century, a Slavic castle, which was probably made a ring wall of earth and wood.

Hansühn

Etymologically, Hansühn is derived from the Middle Low German vocabulary han (high) and Atonement (sun) and High means sun, which is due to the high altitude of the village.

The Christ Church was built on the crest height of a glacial Moränenzuges. The building was constructed in 1896 at the site of a 13th century church. He has, on the southeast side on a field stone masonry. The Hamburg architect Hugo Groot Hoff used in the construction field hewn stones and gliedernde Decorative brick games, thus reaching the exterior reminiscent of a Romanesque churches appearance. Ehlerstorf

The Good Ehlerstorf was founded in the late Middle Ages. The mansion dates back to a typical semi-detached house, it originates in the core of the 16th century. In the 20th century, the courtyard of the estate in the historical style was renewed.

Farve

The Good Farve has existed since 1454, today's neo-Gothic mansion was rebuilt in 1837. The estate is privately owned and is not accessible.

Testorf

Good Testorf was founded in 1460, today's neo-baroque mansion dates mainly from the period around 1774, was from 1764 to 1784 reshaped by the Eutiner master builder Georg Hofer Gregg and 1902 again largely rebuilt. The estate is privately owned and is not publicly available. The buildings are laid out axially symmetrical and are located in a large park. Particularly, built by Gregg Hofer gatehouse is worth seeing.

White House

The manor house of the estate White House and the associated estate village with 16 houses (about 50 acres ) was sold to the Hamburg-based entrepreneur January Henric Buettner in October 2005 by Count Platen - Hallermund.

The mansion of the once to White House belonging Guts Friederikenhof dates from the year 1895. Nowadays it is used as a catering operation.

Policy

Of the 17 seats in the municipal council, the CDU has been the local elections 2008 ten seats and the SPD has seven.
