Warsteiner

The Warsteiner Brauerei Haus Cramer KG is a major German brewery that produced in Germany for the domestic and export market.

History

In 1753 for the first time was the payment of a tax on beer by the farmer Antonius Cramer. Thus the tradition of continuously family-owned brewery began. From Casper Cramer 1802, the headquarters of the company was built.

The real boom began in 1884 with the connection Warstein to the railway. Thus, the shipment of the beer was possible beyond the narrow local framework. The modernization and expansion of the operation was carried out by the commissioning of a first steam engine in 1895 and the entry in the Company Register in 1898. By 1920, the brewery has developed into a modern for that time company that bottled and soft drinks and bottled water in addition to the pilsner and bock beer production.

With the development of the imperial source began in 1928 focusing on the production of beer. These rumors spread in the following years in Germany, although the brewery had tried in the fall of 1994 and again in 1997 with full-page ads in all major German newspapers and news magazines, to stand up against this smear campaign to fight back. As a result of the smear campaign, the brewery had from 1995 until about the turn of the millennium away significant slump in sales suffered and lost their position as the largest German premium beer brand. A rehabilitation learned Warsteiner by a transmission contribution of the media magazine Zapp, which was broadcast on 17 February 2010 in the NDR. It grabbed the magazine under the title " Perfidious Public Relations concealed ambush " the launch of the rumors about Warsteiner as an example of economic damaging smear campaign on.

The little innovative market strategy in recent years has led to production and sales declines. The company responded with a pronounced austerity. Employees were laid off, factories closed and the sponsorship was limited. After several years of market-related declines in sales Warsteiner returned to take the helm in 2010.
