Wartberg in Muerztal until the end of 2014 a municipality with 2067 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2013 ) in the Austrian province of Styria. As part of the municipality of structural reform in Styria it is merged in 2015 with the municipalities and Veitsch Mitterndorf in Muerztal, the new community will be known as Santa Barbara in Muerztal. This is based on the Styrian community structure reform law - StGsrG.

Geography

Wartberg in Muerztal is located on the Murz, a northeastern tributary of the River Mur in the judicial district Miirzzuschlag and in the political district of Bruck - Miirzzuschlag in the north- east of Styria.

Community structure

The municipality consists of the following cadastral (area 2001): Scheib trench ( 1456.03 ha) and Wartberg ( 911.77 ha).

History

The first mention of Wartberg was in 1158 as Wartperch. The local church as an autonomous body created in 1850 and included the cadastral Wartberg, Scheib ditch Mitterndorf and Lutschaun. 1871, the still existing company Vogel & Noot was established as a company for the production of iron, steel and other metal products.

1906 eliminated Mitterndorf and Lutschaun out of the community association Wartberg. After the annexation of Austria in 1938, the community came to Reichsgau Styria, 1945-1955, she was part of the British zone of occupation in Austria.
