Waupun is a city ( with a status of "City" ) in Dodge and Fond du Lac County in the U.S. state of Wisconsin. In 2010, Waupun had 11,340 inhabitants.
Geography
Waupun is located in the central southeastern Wisconsin on the western source river of the Rock River. The geographical coordinates of Waupun are 43 ° 37'54 " north latitude and 88 ° 43'46 " west longitude. The city covers an area of 11.5 km ².
Neighboring towns of Waupun are Rosendale ( 21.4 km NNE ), Lamartine (18,2 km northeast), Oakfield ( 18.3 km ENE ), Brownsville (20,2 km to the east), Mayville (27,7 km southwest), Burnett (15,5 km south), Beaver Dam ( 22.4 km SSW ) Fox Lake (16,8 km southwest) and Markesan (28,7 km to the northwest ).
The nearest major cities are Green Bay on Lake Michigan (130 km north- north-east ), Wisconsin's largest city, Milwaukee (106 km southeast), Chicago, Illinois (255 km south-southeast ), Rockford, Illinois (176 km south-southwest ) and Wisconsin's capital Madison (91 km south-west ).
Traffic
The four-lane U.S. Highway 151 runs along the eastern border. In the urban area, the Wisconsin State Highways take 26, 49 and 68 together at its eastern terminus. All other roads are minor roads, some unpaved roadways and within local roads.
In a north-south direction through the city a railway in the Wisconsin and Southern Railroad ( WSOR ), a regional (Class II ) Freight transportation company.
In about one kilometer runs east of the urban area with the Wild Goose State Trail, a rail trail for walkers and cyclists. In the winter the trail can be traveled with snowmobiles and skis.
With the Dodge County Airport is located 25.2 km south a small airfield. The next airports are the Dane County Regional Airport in Madison ( 87.1 km southwest ) and the General Mitchell International Airport in Milwaukee (116 kilometers south-east ).

According to the census in 2010 lived in Waupun 11,340 people in 3485 households. The population density was 986.1 inhabitants per square kilometer. In the 3485 households lived statistically 2.35 per person.
The racial the population was composed of 84.7 percent white, 12.2 percent African American, 1.2 percent Native American, 0.3 percent Asian, 0.2 percent and 0.5 percent Polynesians from other ethnic groups; 0.9 percent were descended from two or more races. Regardless of ethnicity, 1.9 percent of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
27.6 percent of the population were under 18 years old, 59.5 percent were between 18 and 64 and 12.9 percent were 65 years or older. 39.0 percent of the population was female.
