Weekly Shōnen Jump

Weekly Shōnen Jump (Japanese週刊 少年ジャンプ, Shukan Shōnen Jampu, better known by his short name Shōnen Jump) is a published since 1968, Japanese manga magazine, which is published weekly basis. Special issues where especially One Shots known but also new, previously unknown mangaka be published, hot Akamaru Jump and appear mainly on Japanese holidays.

Publication

Shōnen Jump published by Shueisha Publishing in July 1968. The magazine is published weekly, has a circumference of nearly 500 pages and costs 240 yen ( about 1.80 euros ).

End of the 1990s Shōnen Jump reached a record weekly circulation of up to six million copies, but the sale has now fallen to just under three million copies per week; such as the number of weekly copies sold decreased from 2004 to 2005 by 1.4%. Nevertheless, it is still the best-selling manga magazine in Japan.

Almost all of the appearing in the magazine manga series will be published later in paperback form. Many internationally known shōnen manga published in Shonen Jump.

Shōnen Jump internationally

In the U.S. Shonen Jump published by VIZ Media offshoot since January 2003. The circulation is about 350,000 copies per month.

Other international offshoots were discontinued after a few years:

  • In Germany appeared from November 2001 to December 2005 at Carlsen Comics, the BANZAI! , Who also introduced German productions next Shonen Jump series. The magazine had a monthly circulation of about 80,000 copies, but was adjusted according to changes in licensing conditions after the 50th edition.
  • In Sweden Full Stop Media from October 2004 to November 2007 published a total of 36 issues of Shonen Jump.
  • In Norway, Shonen Jump published from March 2005 to end of 2007 from the publisher Schibsted Forlagene. The magazine was translated from Swedish.
