Weightlifting at the 1904 Summer Olympics
In the III. Olympics 1904 in St. Louis two competitions were held in weightlifting. They found on 1 and 3 September 1904 at the Francis Field stadium instead of parallel to the track and field competitions ( the now common separation into heavy and track at that time did not yet exist ). It was attended by only six athletes from Greece and the U.S..

In this competition, ten different exercises had to be completed with one arm. The first nine exercises were evaluated according to an upscale weight ( 5 for the first, 3 for second and 1 for third parties). The tenth exercise was a "free choice ", in which the referee awarded a maximum of 25 points along to all athletes.

Winner Pericles Kakousis proved to be superior and won with more than 27 kg ahead of Oscar Osthoff.
Dimitrios Tofalos, winner of the interludes in 1906, was also reported as a participant, but fell ill on the journey and did not appear to.
