Wham!

Wham! was founded in 1981, British pop group, which consisted of George Michael and Andrew Ridgeley.

Between 1982 and 1986, she landed ten top 10 hits in the UK, five of which even came at No. 1.

Musical Career

The members were George Michael ( born June 25, 1963) and Andrew Ridgeley ( born January 26, 1963) as well as the backing singers Dee C. Lee ( 1982-1983 ), Pepsi and Shirlie Kemp Demacque. Well-known hits include Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go and Last Christmas. Both singles reached went straight to number one in the UK and later in the United States.

In February 1986, Michael and Ridgeley officially announced the release of Wham! known. Then they gave on June 28, 1986 before 72,000 fans at Wembley her last, The Final on untitled, concert. In the two and a half hour farewell show Elton John and Simon Le Bon of Duran Duran occurred. The concert is considered the fastest sell-out in the UK music history. The tickets for this event were sold out within three minutes.

Andrew Ridgeley in 1990 tried in vain a solo career as a singer. His single and the album Shake Son of Albert were not a success. Today he lives with Keren Woodward together ( singer with Bananarama ) and has worked as an environmental activist.
